Hennessy hammock was one of my first hammocks that I bought in the early 2000’s. I thought they looked cool, so I bought one. Had never slept in a hammock and other than hammocks that I had in my backyard as a kid, never even knew that hiking hammocks existed. I left my first version back in the USA when I moved to Sweden. When I moved to Sweden I had to import a Hennessy when I got back into hiking. It was not a cheap experience. Since then I have moved on to use and abuse dozens of hammocks, more or less every hammock built and sold, I have tested. Yet, I still come back to my Hennessy for two simple reasons:
1. It’s extremely easy to setup. Everything is built into one package, unlike many other hammocks that require ropes for tarps, tent pegs and a bunch of other stuff – the Hennessy is one simple package. Two ropes, tree huggers and your done.
2. I find the Asym lay of the Hennessys to be very comfortable. Granted, not quite as comfortable as the Warbonnet Ridgefunner or Blackbird – the Hennessy is easier to setup.
So while the Hennsessy is not as cool as many other brands, they do come in at a great price and as a complete package. Meaning you get everything you need in one package. No need to buy anything else other than a sleeping mat and or underquilt and overquilt. You done. Might I recommened a Sierra designs Nitro quilt or Enlightened equipment Revelation quilt as top quilt. Both are excellent.
Do I have any complaints about the Hennessy. To be honest, not really. They are good quality and come in at a good price. The only thing I complain about is that the UL versions could be lighter and more easily available, and I don’t like the fact that they are built in China. In the end however, I can gladly recommened the Hennessy hammocks to anyone looking for a good first and only hammock. While I would prefer people would buy more locally produced products like Warbonnet (Built in USA) or Dutchware (USA) – Hennessy is not a bad investment.
- Very easy to pitch
- Good price
- Good quality
- Decent weight
- Very comfortable
- All in one package
- Could be lighter
- We need to move away from Chinese produced products

The Safari Deluxe was developed for people who like really big hammocks. This is our deepest, widest and most comfortable hammock for larger people or even for cozy couples whose combined weight does not exceed 159 kg.
It has our patented asymmetrical shape and structural ridge line to ensure exceptional comfort and a perfect set up every time.
This model includes a double wide hex shaped fly making it Ideal for hunting, car camping, boat camping, out at the cottage or in the back yard.
: The Safari Models require one set of SnakeSkins for the Hex fly and one set for the hammock bottom if you intend to collapse both parts into SnakeSkins. Many people use the SnakeSkins just to collapse the wet rainfly and keep it on the outside of their pack.
Tom knew that the people of Central America sleep diagonally in their hammocks. So, with that knowledge, he changed the shape of his hammock into his patented asymmetrical design which lets you lie level on the diagonal with excellent support under your lower back and knees.
Because tree spacing is always different, the curve of a hammock is always different. The patented structural ridge line ensures the same shape every time you set up your hammock. This is the first time in history that you have the exact same comfortable bed every night and a perfect setup every time
Asymmetrical hammock shape (US Patent US6865757B2); Structural ridge line patent (US patent US20090165205A1) Also patented in the UK, EU, AUS/NZ, and Canada.

Now you can mix and match hammock parts for your specific needs. As you will see, sometimes there is only a small price increase to get exactly what you want instead of buying more than you need.
: In some areas of the world longer webbing straps are needed. Our stock webbing strap is 107 gram long which is fine for trees up to 0.98 cm diameter. Now you can get a free upgrade to 183 cm webbing straps which are fine for trees up to 60 cm in diameter or 244 cm webbing straps which are fine for trees up to 60 cm in diameter.
: Most places in the world, even jungles, require some insulation at night especially at altitude. We offer two choices with different temperature ranges. Both of these systems have insulation pads that are wider and will protect your arms and shoulders much better than the standard tent pad.
All Hennessy Hammocks come complete with attached mosquito netting, detachable rain fly, support ropes, and stuff sack with set up instructions on back. Hennessy Hammock also provides complimentary standard 107 cm long “Tree Hugger” webbing straps to protect the bark of trees. Because these accessory webbing straps are complimentary, they are weighed separately from the hammock
