Skalmo Ilforsen 40L Backpack EcoPak Ultra

I have a favorite little hike here in Northern Sweden. It’s along Sävarån, an excellent little river outside Umeå. Sävarån offers some of the Best fishing and views so close to a big town that I know of. Anyway, along this river there is my favorite spot called Ilforsen. It’s an open fishing hole sorrounded by one entry point with rapids, and one exit point also rapids. In this fishing hole there is all kinds of fish that gather, from large northern salmon to bass and pike.

This fishing hole takes about a day of solid walking to get to and a day back. So if your like me and you are lazy and just want to fish and enjoy the nature you can split it over a 3-4 day hike. That is why this pack is called “Ilforsen” – a pack meant for minimalist hiking spread of a 2-4 day hike. Super light, optional hipbelt, and more than enough room for all your hiking hear, fishing equipment and why not even a Trangia stove on top of it all to cook that awesome fish. 

The idea behind this pack is to give you a minimalist ultralight pack that is still big enough and robust enough for just about anything. Great for weights up to about 8-10kg, the Minimalist pack is one of the lightest full size packs in the world – at a minimum of 30 liters and a maximum of 48 liter (excluding big side and front pocket – about 4-5 liters). The Minimalist pack fits snugly against your back without hipbelt, with hipbelt you can adjust it to give you lots of breathing room. The pockets are made of one solid piece of Dyneema® or X-pac, even mesh is available. The solid pockets are a great choice for trains such as the aforementioned Sävarån, where there is a lot of branches and brush. Nothing gets snagged, nothing rips or breaks.

• Frameless – though sleeve for sleeping or sitpad that can be used as frame
• Watertight materials – we can’t gurantee 100% waterproof, but we get pretty close to it. 
• Hip-belt is included – but can be easily removed as this pack doesn’t really need hipbelt

About Ultra EPL 400:
